"Using the IDEA Center: Digital Media Lab"
A hands-on tour using the IDEA Center at Foothill College. You will be introduced to equipment, software and resources available to you as a member of BABA and GID 94: Book Arts Professional Practices. This tour is required if you desire to effectively use the Center throughout the year. During the session, BABA members will demonstrate how they use digital templates for book design, layout and production.
Tour
- introduction to 1801: Print & Book Arts Studio
- introduction to 1211: IDEA Center (Digital Media Lab)
- how to access software and servers
- Adobe CS3: Using InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop for book projects (hands-on)
- using drawing tablets, scanners and printers
- making color managed digital prints using the Adobe CS & Epson inkjet printers

"Photographing your Book Works "
A work session on photographing bookwork led by CATHY CAKEBREAD and other in-house photographers. This is a great opportunity to learn how to photograph your work and to photograph your recent work for both the BABA online gallery and the "2007 Kaleidoscope of Bay Area Artist's Books" CD, which will launch at the "2007 Book Arts Jam".
During the session, computers in 1801 and the IDEA Center will be available for preparation of digital files for the BABA online gallery.

"Jam Preparation Work Day" and "Folded Book Structures"
This session will provide opportunity for JAM helpers to tie up loose ends including touring the new student center for placement of tables and signage, printing and mounting of signage, duplicating forms and any other logistics needed to make the jam a success.
Workshop/demonstration on folded book structures. Pick your favorite folded book structure and volunteer to teach it!
